CISPA passed the House and now on to the Senate…

Sadly Adrian Smith (serving the 3rd District of Nebraska as a Republican) voted YEA for H.R. 624 (CISPA) and at the same time voted against the freedom and privacy of all the people he represents, but not all is lost since CISPA now moves onto the Senate floor.   With CISPA going to Senate it is now time to contact our Senators and let them know how and why CISPA must be stopped with a vote of NAY!  If you have contacted them before about CISPA please do it again so they keep it fresh in their mind where you stand.

A quick reminder of what CISPA is:

Last year, CISPA (then H.R. 3261 aka SOPA) sought to create powerful new protections for companies who wanted to sidestep privacy law in order to share sensitive user information with the government without judicial oversight. CISPA may also result in more sharing to the National Security Agency, which the Libertarian Party and civil liberties groups like the ACLU and EFF oppose.
